How Landed Lab came to be.

Landed Lab didn't begin with a business plan. It began with a conversation.

A conversation between psychologists who had spent years designing recruitment assessments and people who had just been through them. Despite standing on opposite sides of the hiring process, they kept reaching the same conclusion.

Something wasn't working.

Every year, thousands of interns, graduates and early career professionals begin their careers by navigating online assessments, behavioural tests and video interviews they were never taught to understand. For many, the hardest part isn't the rejection.

It's not knowing why.

Recruitment has changed dramatically, but the support available to early career seekers hasn't kept pace. Candidates are expected to complete assessments that influence the direction of their careers with little understanding of what employers are looking for or how they're being assessed.

That gap became impossible to ignore.

Michael and David brought decades of experience in organisational psychology, assessment design and recruitment, helping organisations identify potential and make better hiring decisions. Charlotte contributed extensive leadership, operational and business development experience, ensuring those ideas could become a practical, sustainable business.

Emily, Shayan and Emma each brought something equally important. Alongside their expertise in public policy and research, software engineering, digital marketing and community building, they'd also experienced today's recruitment process first-hand. They understood the uncertainty of online assessments, the frustration of repeated applications and the lack of meaningful guidance available to candidates.

Together, we realised the problem wasn't a lack of talent. It was a lack of understanding.

So we created Landed Lab. Not to help people game assessments. Not to produce generic interview advice. But to give early career seekers the knowledge, practice and confidence that should have been available from the beginning.

Because opportunity shouldn't depend on knowing information that nobody ever shares.
