Working together to improve the future of recruitment
Recruitment is changing quickly. Preparing people for it, understanding it and improving it are challenges that no single organisation can solve alone. Landed Lab exists to bring together people who care about making recruitment fairer, more transparent and more accessible for everyone.
Each sector sees part of the picture, but rarely the whole of it.
Modern recruitment sits at the intersection of education, technology, psychology and employment. Each sector sees part of the picture, but rarely the whole of it.
Universities understand the pressures facing learners. Employers understand the realities of selecting talent. Researchers and policy makers see the wider social and economic picture. Candidates experience the process first first-hand.
By bringing those perspectives together, we have an opportunity to improve not only how recruitment works today, but how it evolves in the future.
We're interested in collaborating with organisations that share a genuine interest in improving recruitment, widening opportunity and strengthening employability. Not because any one organisation has all the answers, but because better outcomes come from shared knowledge, evidence and experience.
Recruitment has moved faster than most curricula. Let's help you close that gap.
Education has always adapted to prepare people for the world of work. Recruitment, however, has changed at an extraordinary speed.
Online assessments, situational judgement tests, game-based assessments, asynchronous interviews and AI-supported recruitment have become commonplace across many sectors. Students and learners are increasingly expected to navigate processes that many educators never encountered themselves.
This presents an opportunity to work more closely together.
We're keen to collaborate with universities, colleges, sixth forms, careers services, training providers and employability organisations to better understand how recruitment is changing and how learners can be supported more effectively.
That could include
Sharing insight into emerging recruitment practices
Improving assessment literacy
Contributing to research
Exploring pilot projects
Developing resources
Identifying where confidence is lost during the recruitment journey
Ultimately, the goal is simple: to help more people move from education into meaningful employment with confidence and a clearer understanding of the opportunities ahead.
Better hiring starts with understanding both sides of the experience.
Employers invest significant time and expertise in identifying potential. Candidates invest just as much in preparing to demonstrate it. There is real value in better understanding both perspectives.
We're interested in working with Talent Acquisition teams, Early Careers specialists, and recruitment leaders to explore how candidate preparation influences confidence, experience and performance, and how recruitment processes can continue to evolve.
Looking ahead
Identify emerging skills and strengthen the connection between employers, educators and future talent.
Improve assessment design and reduce unnecessary barriers through shared insight.
Create recruitment experiences that are fair, transparent and genuinely effective.
The ambition is not simply to prepare candidates more effectively. It is to contribute to a recruitment system that works better for everyone involved.
The policy questions around recruitment are getting bigger. We want to be part of that conversation.
Recruitment is no longer simply an employment issue. It is increasingly connected to social mobility, productivity, education and economic growth.
At the same time, youth unemployment and the number of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) remain significant challenges. Advances in AI and automation are changing how organisations recruit, creating new opportunities while also introducing new barriers for some candidates.
These conversations are often held in isolation. We're interested in bringing them together.
We welcome opportunities to contribute to research, policy development and evidence-led discussions around assessment literacy, fair recruitment, transitions into work, youth employment, NEET reduction and the future impact of technology on recruitment.
Our role is not to promote a single solution, but to contribute practical insight, learn from others and support informed discussion that leads to better outcomes.
Landed Lab is one contribution to a much bigger conversation.
Our hope is that, over time, the platform becomes a place where insight is shared, research informs practice and organisations from different sectors can learn from one another.
If collaboration leads to fairer recruitment, stronger employability and better connections between talented people and meaningful opportunities, everyone benefits.
